Lessons Learned From Kids

I was teaching a lesson to two young girls at the beginning of the week. I decided to mix things up and have a little fun so we had a mini barrel racing competition.

The girls loved it! But knowing kids I made sure to try and explain to them that they where not competing against each other. Before I could form that thought one of the kids moms stepped in with the best explanation for the situation.

“Remember you are not trying to beat the other girl you are trying to beat your last time. That is your opponent!”

Then today I came across this quote on Facebook and I had the realization that it’s not only kids that need this mentality it’s adults too. And really I think we need it even more then them.

So next time you go out to the barn (or anywhere else) strive to better yourself not to be better then someone else!
